OUR PICKS

Authors: Hyacinth, Elias, Brady

While in Costa Rica we got to experience so many amazing things. All of us wanted to bring back a little piece of the trip. We took hundreds of pictures and bought many souvenirs. People bought jewelry, stuffed animals, keychains, and even local snacks! Yum! We’ve decided to highlight  some of our favorite souvenirs we got on the trip.

While in Costa Rica one of the things we did was visit a pineapple plantation. After the tour of the plantation we had the chance to stop at the gift shop where people bought several souvenirs. One unique souvenir was a wooden pineapple box. It will make a special gift that represents our day at the pineapple plantation, and will remind us of all the pineapple we ate on the trip.

Another amazing and fun activity we got to do in Costa Rica was visit a cacao/chocolate plantation. We learned how to make chocolate straight from the cacao plant. We got to sample a lot of chocolate in different forms including powder, bars, and liquid. We got to try all of the types of chocolate. It was so good. We got to drink hot chocolate out of hand-made cups with patterns on them. The cups were traditionally made for the drink of the gods (hot chocolate).  We could purchase many different types of chocolate and we could also buy the cups. This presentation was not only educational, it was delicious!

For many of us, the pictures we took ended up being some of our favorite souvenirs. Almost everyone  on the trip brought a camera, and took a lot of pictures. We took pictures of everything, including plants, animals, people, and each other. Pictures are a wonderful way to capture your memories to share with friends or family, or just to look back on and remember the trip. Here are just a few of our favorite pictures and memories from this trip. To see more, visit the “Mix” section of our digital magazine.
